DNAPKi further augments efficient eradication of hypoxic tumor cells by carbon ion. Clonogenic survival data for A549 cells irradiated with carbon ions under normoxia (a) and hypoxia (b) in combination with 100 nM ATMi (upper panel) or DNAPKi (lower panel), respectively. Both inhibitors radiosensitized carbon ions under normoxia. In line with photon irradiation, with DNAPKi the ratio of survival fractions was further increased after carbon irradiation under hypoxic conditions.
