HT29 cells were either treated with loratadine (75 μM, 24 hrs) prior to exposure to 8 Gy radiation, or treated with loratadine or radiation alone. γH2AX expression, determined by western blot at 1, 6, and 24 hrs after irradiation, increased within 1 hr after irradiation and returned to baseline by 24 hrs. Loratadine treatment enhanced this expression at 1 hr and resulted in persistent expression at 24 hrs. Loratadine alone also increased γH2AX expression with maximal expression at 6 hrs.
